New Study Shows Home Staging Can Help Sell Your Home Up To Three Times Faster In A Flagging UK Housing Market

It’s all too clear that the ongoing impasse of Brexit negotiations has been wreaking havoc on the housing market, and with reports that last month saw yet another drop in the ongoing fall in house prices, buyers and sellers alike have been left desperately searching for ways to circumnavigate the doom and gloom of a stagnant market.

Amid these concerns, The Home Staging Association UK & Ireland offers some uplifting findings from their recent research study. A wide-ranging sample of property professionals, including estate agents, property developers and property managers, were asked to complete a survey on the effect home staging has had on the success of their sales between January and April this year. The results are encouraging, and work towards further substantiating how home staging can transform a property’s appeal, attract more buyers, and maximise the chance of a final sale.

One of the most significant results saw 85 per cent of respondents reporting that a staged home sells up to three times faster than a non-staged property. With houses currently sitting on the market at an average of 19 weeks, from initial listing to final offer, this is good news for those looking for a speedy sale in a sluggish market.

Furthermore, despite an ongoing national drop in buyer interest and demand, the survey reports that 94 per cent of estate agents, and 100 per cent of developers, confirmed that home staging increased the number of viewings for a property.

Here are more of the key findings from the report:

  • 100 per cent of respondents reported home staging makes it easier for a buyer to visualise the property as their future home.
  • 75 per cent cited that home buyers will spend more time viewing a home that has been professionally staged.
  • When comparing similar properties, 38 per cent of respondents stated home staging increased the offer value by 1-3%, and a further 16 per cent cited a 7-10% rise in offer value.
  • 100 per cent reported properties with professional photos get more viewings than properties with poorer quality images.
