Ramada to Add Another Hotel in Wellington, NZ

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts will plant its first Ramada-branded flag in Wellington from late 2020 as the company announced a new-build hotel is on the way to the New Zealand capital.

In partnership with Safari Group, the signing continues the company’s growth objectives in New Zealand. The 93-room Ramada Suites by Wyndham Taranaki Street Wellington takes Wyndham’s New Zealand pipeline to seven hotels, three of which will open across the country this year.

“Arrivals to New Zealand have increased by more than 50% since 2010, due in part to its rising popularity in countries such as China,” said Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, South East Asia and Pacific Rim President and Managing Director, Joon Aun Ooi.

THPT Comment –  Great move for Wyndham with it’s fourth hotel in this small country.

Marriott to Take Ritz-Carlton Brand to Portland, Oregon

Marriott International has signed an agreement with developer BPM Real Estate Group to bring its Ritz-Carlton brand to Portland and the Pacific north-west.

Under the contract, the brand will manage 251 hotel rooms and 138 residential units – including eight spacious penthouses – within a nearly $600 million, 35-story tower that would have sweeping views of the city’s majestic landscape.

Construction is expected to commence later this year, with an anticipated opening in early 2023.

THPT Comment – Great move for Marriott’s Ritz-Carlton brand to open their first hotel in this part of the world…Hotels, certainly in the USA, are becoming the lynch-pin of mixed use/mall developments.

First SureStay Hotel Opens in the Philippines

Located on Surla Street, one of the main thoroughfares in downtown Angeles City, the hotel is surrounded by popular attractions including the SM City Clark mega-mall, PAGCOR casino and Fields Avenue “walking street.” Clark International Airport is just a short drive away, offering direct connections to major cities including Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai, Seoul and Taipei, and Manila can be reached in less than two hours by car.

“Angeles City is becoming a new Asian tourism hotspot, with a wealth of visitor attractions and excellent accessibility,” said Olivier Berrivin, Managing Director of International Operations – Asia, Best Western Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to welcoming guests to SureStay Plus by Best Western AC LUXE Angeles City and introducing the first internationally-branded upper-economy hotel to this dynamic destination.”

THPT Comment – Best Western currently operates five hotels and resorts all across The Philippines, making it one of the country’s largest international hotel operators.

Rocco Forte Opens in Puglia and 2nd Hotel in Rome in May 2019

Back in May 2019, Rocco Forte Hotels opened the doors to Masseria Torre Maizza. Following a significant renovation, the stylish retreat combines Rocco Forte’s signature Anglo-Italian style of service, warmth and hospitality with a contemporary, modern design in Italy’s most exciting destination, Puglia.

Set in the charming area of Savelleteri di Fasano, along the Adriatic coast and surrounded by ancient olive groves, the resort is an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th century.

Hyatt and BTG Homeinns Have Launched a New Hotel Brand, UrCove.

BTG Homeinns Hotels Group is a well-known hotel group in China and consists of nearly 20 brand series and nearly 40 products with accommodation as its core. They operates about 3,900 hotels in more than 400 cities across the country, covering full range of hotel businesses, from Up-scale and Mid-scale to Resorts and Long-stay Apartments.

In April 2016, Homeinns Hotel Group merged with BTG Hotels Group and became a subsidiary of newly founded BTG Homeinns Hotels Group.

Designed for the upper mid-scale segment, the brand will specifically meet the needs of Chinese guests.

The pair expect to open the first two hotels in Shanghai and Beijing by late 2020. The properties will cater for the country’s growing band of road warriors and business travellers.

THPT Comment – Great move for Hyatt to partner up with local Company – Homeinns. 4,000 hotels and we at THPT had not heard of them before! UrCove is an interesting name.
