The UK’s first Marbella-style beach club is to open on the Isle of Wight in Sandown in July.
Called Origin, it will offer 24 bedrooms and two one-bedroom apartments in the Townhouse at Origin from £170 a night. The business will offer indoor and alfresco dining in the Terrace restaurant, where local seafood will be a feature, along with a cocktail bar, a swimming pool with DJ area, plus a roped-off section of Sandown’s famous sandy beach, complete with sunbeds and a beach bar.
THPT Comment – What happened to the IOW to make it so hot…Just a while back Prince Harry’s friend, Howard Spooner is going to turn his bit of the beach into St Tropez!
The Hut has Bought Two Hotels in Manchester
Hut entered the hotel sector in 2016, buying the Hale Country Club & Spa. Eclectic founders Eamonn and Sally O’Loughlin are retaining two former Eclectic properties, in south Manchester – Didsbury House Hotel and Eleven Didsbury Park.
The pair – located in the city centre – accommodate a variety of lounge and bar areas, as well as roof-top terraces. King Street Townhouse also houses an infinity pool, private screening room and a wine cellar dining space.
The deal is designed to demonstrate the Hut Group’s approach to effective engagement with consumers in both the online and offline environment. As such, the hotels will form part of its growing marketing infrastructure.
THPT Comment – Interesting in the same week Equinox, the health club operator, has announced their first hotel in New York…is there a trend here?

French luxury goods company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton is to bring its exclusive Cheval Blanc brand to London with the launch of an 83-bedroom hotel in Mayfair.
Located within a seven-storey property and a linked 11-storey property between New Bond Street, Grafton Street and Bruton Lane, the hotel will feature a raft of food and beverage outlets including a lobby bar and all-day restaurant on the ground floor, a fine-dining restaurant on the first floor and a bar and roof terrace on level six.
LVMH also owns Bvlgari hotels, Dom Pérignon, Krug, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior Couture and TAG Heuer.
THPT Comment – Will be interesting to see if they keep the Cheval Blanc brand, or merge it into Belmond, who are due to open the Belmond Cadogan in London’s Belgravia imminently.

London & Regional, owner of Cliveden, Chewton Glen, Lygon Arms in the UK and 60+ other hotels globally.
